Early Communication & Play for Toddlers and Their Grown-Ups

Little Connections

A 10-week parent-and-child class where a speech-language pathologist and an occupational therapist coach you, week by week, in the small everyday moves that help your child connect and communicate. For ages 18 months to 4 years, with one caregiver attending alongside their child.

What Your Child Will Build

Reasons to Communicate

You learn to create natural reasons for your child to communicate, instead of asking “what do you want?” Gestures, sounds, signs, AAC, and words all count.

Shared Attention

Simple, comfortable ways to get face to face and share a moment of play, without ever requiring eye contact.

Sensory Regulation

An occupational therapist helps you read your child’s sensory and movement needs, so you can tell when they are ready to connect.

Play and Imitation

Imitating sounds, actions, and play ideas, then pausing to leave room for your child to take a turn.

Everyday Routines

Snack, cleanup, dressing, and bath all become moments for language. Therapy does not have to happen at a table.

Confident Caregivers

You leave each week with one practical strategy to try at home, plus a single-page handout. By week 10 you have a full toolbox.

About Little Connections

Little Connections is built on one idea: you are with your child all week, and we are not. So the class teaches you.

Every session, a licensed speech-language pathologist and a licensed occupational therapist introduce one simple strategy, model it in front of you, and then coach you in real time while you and your child play. You go home with one thing to try, not a homework packet.

Why two disciplines. Communication does not happen in isolation. A child who is dysregulated or working hard to hold their body up has very little left over for connecting. Speech therapy creates opportunities for communication, language, and play. Occupational therapy supports regulation, attention, motor skills, and participation. With both therapists in the room, you see how they fit together: movement leads to regulation, regulation to engagement, engagement to interaction, and interaction to communication.

All communication counts. This class is not about making children perform, and it is not about counting spoken words. Gestures, sounds, signs, AAC, facial expressions, and words are all welcomed here. Our approach is neurodiversity-affirming and child-led. We follow your child’s interests rather than redirecting them.

Tumble N’ Dots Pediatric Therapy is a licensed outpatient therapy clinic. Our programs are designed and delivered by licensed therapists.

Our classes are neurodiversity-affirming and led by a licensed speech-language pathologist and a licensed occupational therapist, so the approach is child-led, play-based, and built around how your child actually learns, including attention, sensory preferences, communication, and self-advocacy. Groups stay small so every child gets high-touch support, and children of all abilities are welcome, whether or not they have a diagnosis.
