Play-Based Occupational Therapy Screenings at Your Child’s School

Now scheduling · $40 per screening

A school screening is a short, play-based check-in with a licensed pediatric occupational therapist, held right at your child’s school. It highlights what your child is doing well and flags any areas where a little extra support might help. It is a simple first step, not a full evaluation.

What a Screening Looks At

Fine Motor & Handwriting

How your child holds a pencil, forms letters, uses scissors, and manages the small-hand tasks that fill a school day.

Visual Motor & Perception

Copying from the board, staying inside the lines, and making sense of what the eyes take in so the hands can follow.

Sensory Processing

How your child responds to noise, movement, touch, and busy spaces, and what helps them settle and stay ready to learn.

Attention & Self-Regulation

Starting a task, sticking with it, shifting between activities, and bouncing back when something feels hard.

Gross Motor & Coordination

Balance, body awareness, and coordination on the playground, in PE, and moving through the classroom.

Classroom Independence

Managing belongings, following routines, and handling everyday self-care tasks without step-by-step help.

About Our School Screenings

Tumble N’ Dots Pediatric Therapy is a private pediatric therapy clinic in Orange County offering cost-effective, school-based occupational therapy screenings. These brief, play-based screenings help identify your child’s strengths, as well as areas where additional support may be helpful.

Screenings are provided by licensed pediatric occupational therapists using a child-led, play-based, and neurodiversity-affirming approach in a familiar school setting. Because the screening happens where your child actually works and plays, what we see reflects real school life. Most children experience it as a fun break rather than a test.

Screening focus: Fine motor and handwriting, visual motor and visual perceptual skills, sensory processing, attention and self-regulation, gross motor coordination, and classroom independence.

About School Screenings

A school screening is a brief look at how your child is doing. It is not a comprehensive occupational therapy evaluation and does not include a diagnosis, determination of medical necessity, an individualized plan of care, clinical treatment goals, or insurance billing. It is also not a substitute for an evaluation through your school district.

If a screening suggests your child could benefit from more support, we will explain the options. A full occupational therapy evaluation is a separate clinical service with its own intake process, and you are welcome to pursue it with us or with any provider you choose.
