Frequently Asked Questions

Most frequent questions and answers

How do I know if my child needs OT?

If you notice challenges with balance, coordination, self-regulation, school skills, social interactions, self-care, play skills, focus or attention, we suggest scheduling a screening appointment with an occupational therapist.

How long is an occupational therapy session?

Each session is 50-minutes of direct 1:1 treatment. The last few minutes are dedicated to talking with parents/caregivers about the session.

How long will my child need occupational therapy?

The duration that your child will be in OT will be recommended as an evaluation has been completed and the therapist becomes familiar with your child. Following through with activities that your therapist suggest at home will expedite your child’s therapy with us.

Can my child receive OT at home or in the classroom?

Yes. Depending on your child’s identified needs, we will occasionally visit a classroom or home to provide insight and support related to the occupational therapy your child is receiving.

We also offer routine treatment within your home or in the classroom based on the needs identified.

Will my child grow out of these issues?

We all change as we mature and develop. Sensory Integration concerns are not something that children grow out of. Early identification and treatment can make a huge impact on your child’s physical development and psychological well-being. When we understand how a child processes sensory information, we can create individualized activities that give comfort and support sensory processing. A child who feels understood develops lifelong confidence and self esteem.

Does Tumble N’ Dots accept my insurance?

Tumble N’ Dots is not part of any insurance program or network. We will provide a superbill that includes all the insurance codes needed to seek reimbursement from your insurance carrier but we do not bill the insurance company directly. You can submit our super bill for a possible reimbursement from your insurance company for an out-of-network provider.

For additional info, please read out Policy Regarding Insurance Reimbursement.

Can I watch my child’s therapy session?

Yes! We encourage parents/caregivers to drop in and see what we do and how your child’s therapy sessions are going.

How frequently does my child need to see an OT?

Frequency of sessions varies based on the needs to the child. A recommendation for frequency is provided by the therapist after a full evaluation.

What is the cost for an OT session?

Please contact our office for rates. An initial screening appointment is usually the first appointment to be scheduled so the therapist can evaluate and understand your concerns to better assist your child.

How can I check if my health insurance carrier will cover OT?

Please call your health insurance carrier and ask about occupational therapy services coverage. Different insurance carriers offer different plans so we cannot advise you if your specific carrier will reimburse you for out-of-network occupational therapy services.
