Grants for Therapy
Options to make therapy more affordable. These national non-profits offer grants and scholarships that families use toward occupational, speech, and feeding therapy, camps, and communication devices.

Grant Programs
Each program below has its own eligibility rules and calendar. Many pay the provider directly rather than reimbursing the family.
UnitedHealthcare Children's Foundation
Medical grants to enhance the quality of life of children across the United States, so kids can get the care they need. Up to $10,000 for speech and occupational therapy.
Small Steps in Speech
Funds supplemental speech and language therapy, materials, and workshops for children with communication disorders. The Grant Applications section has two tracks, one for individuals and families and one for therapy providers applying on a child's behalf. Deadlines fall on February 1, May 1, August 1, and November 1. U.S. citizens ages 3 to 22, family income under $125,000, parent or guardian approval required. Funds go toward future services, not reimbursement for past expenses, and past recipients are not eligible again.
The Orange Effect Foundation
Funds speech therapy and communication technology for children and young adults up to age 21. Insurance must be exhausted first, and income over $100,000 requires proof of need.
Apraxia Kids
Each year Apraxia Kids provides speech tablets to children with apraxia in the U.S. and Canada, for speech practice or as speech-generating devices. Over 700 tablets have been awarded since the program began.
Autism Care Today
Since 2005, Autism Care Today has provided over $1.85 million in grants to 1,562+ families, covering therapies, assistive technologies, safety equipment, and more. The Quarterly Assistance Program pays service providers directly.
CARE Family Grant Program
Supports families with children diagnosed with autism by funding therapy, evaluations, medication, summer camps, and more. Grants are paid directly to providers and are available year-round for U.S. households earning under $75,000 annually, with proof of diagnosis and income required.
MyGOAL Autism Grant Program
Supports families caring for individuals with autism. Offered once a year, with applications available at the beginning of the year and decisions rendered in mid-July.
Autism Spectrum Disorder Foundation
ASDF helps families afford social skills, equine, and aquatic therapy camps for children with autism through partial and full scholarships. These camps foster peer interaction and personal growth.
National Autism Association
The Give A Voice program helps nonspeaking individuals with autism communicate, providing access to communication support including its iPad AAC program.
Oracle Health Foundation
Offers pediatric grants for clinical needs, equipment, travel, lodging, and vehicle modifications. Eligible children must be under 18 (or up to 21 with a child-like mental state), under a physician's care, and uninsured for the requested expenses. Families can apply once a year, up to three times per child.
Varghese Summersett Annual Scholarships
An annual scholarship supporting autistic students in the U.S. with educational or recreational needs like camps, tutoring, or tools for growth. Applicants must be students diagnosed with autism and U.S. residents.
Other Ways to Lower the Cost
